About Us

AMA is a nonprofit organization dedicated to fostering understanding of Latin American – Peru for the past 10 years and this 2025 we will start working at Dominican Republic to explore this amazing culture and providing much-needed aid to Dominican communities. We work to promote cultural understanding and implement innovative and self-sustainable programs in the areas of health, education, and social work.

Through its relationship with local organizations and institutions, AMA is in continuous dialogue with the Dominican community to design sustainable projects and initiatives that will have a long-term impact in the areas we work. Much-needed aid is provided through medical campaigns, health education campaigns and English workshops at schools and communities.

Volunteers are an integral part of our strategy in Dominican Republic. Their time, energy, creativity and fundraising efforts make our programs possible, and the relationships they form with the communities in Dominican Republic are signs of how programs like this not only support development but are also forming future generations to have a deeper appreciation for other cultures.

We invite you to browse our website to learn more about our work in Dominican Republic, read about volunteers’ experiences first hand and learn how to support our mission. We invite you to become part of a network of volunteers and donors who are working for a brighter future.

Sincerely,
The AMA Team

Our Mission

Ayuda Motivate Aprende

We are a nonprofit organization based on social assistance for improving health and education in Dominican Republic. Our name is comprised of the building blocks that make our mission:

Our mission is to Help, Motivate, and Learn. Our goal is to give volunteers the opportunity to help the impoverished communities of our country. Also, our volunteers are given the chance to become a part of a new culture while lending a hand to different cities in Dominican Republic. We want our volunteers to learn about Dominican culture and fall in love with this country and its diverse traditions, landscapes, cuisines and people.

Our Board of Directors

Aida Castillo –  Ceo & Founder

I am a nurse specializing in the Operating Room. Since 2010, I have worked with various non-profit organizations, and in 2012, I founded the organization AMAPeru. At first, our services and efforts were focused solely in my native country, Peru. In 2016, I married my husband of Dominican nationality, and in 2022, I moved to Punta Cana. I have now established my new project through AMAPeru in this beautiful country, Dominican Republic.

I welcome you and I sincerely hope that we can create memories and experiences in this warm country.

It is an honor to be here to share a little about my experience, as well as my commitment to contribute to the well-being and health of all .people. Throughout my career, I have had the opportunity to learn and grow professionally, always guided by a passion for medicine and the desire to make a difference in the lives of others. My training has not only been academic, but also enriched by the culture and experiences lived in my beautiful country, the Dominican Republic.
